Bootilicious

Slide over your cowboy and riding boots and make room for the new hottest boot of the season: the lace up! Although boots season is coming to an end, there is still time to strut the newest lace up boots. Lace up boots have made a significant change in their new reign. Once worn by only the punk and Goth, in the form of combat boots, lace up boots have reemerged with a new feminine and vintage touch. Some toes were rounded, and some of the chunk taken away to update these hardcore boots. These boots are widely found in a bootie style (meaning they are shorter.) Doc Martens, one of the original brands for combat boots, have even tapped into the trend by making their normal boots with feminine prints like flowers.) Don’t worry about the hassle of having to lace up, they now appear with a side zipper so the lacing is just an accessory. These boots can add an urban edge to any jean, legging, skirt or dress outfit. They can either be worn as a mere accessory piece or can be paired with a simple outfit as a statement piece. Let your shoes speak for themselves by starting to lace up!

Worth a Thousand Words

While reading "The Satoralist" (one of the best blogspots in my opinion), I was truly inspired by fashion photography and what exactly photos "say".  I have always been amazed with capturing extraordinary moments, but Scott Schuman does it best.  His photos truly speak to me--i feel warm, and connected to his targets.  I see my family, friends, neighbors, and self in his photos, and I think that is one of his main goals--to have the relateable people. I take photography classes at my school (not digital), and every step of the way, my focus is to re-define beauty through my lense.  I shoot, almost anything, but taking photos of people is most enjoyable. To me, fashion photography is essentially about capturing the essence of the being, the journey of their lives, and the unique quality of their clothes, but most importantly--the attitude the person, and the threads give.  There is a certain zen that comes across me, when I finally develop that photo, and I accomplish all I sought out for.  When a friend of mine can automatically assume, where my target is from, their mood, their age, and a sense of their lifestyle, my photo is indeed picture perfect.  It makes a statement to the public, and to a more well-developed eye.  A picture is definitely worth a thousand words.  I just try to choose wisely, which words I want the photo "saying".  I advise everyone to seek for something to take photos of out of their comfort zone.  Take those few shots because afterwards I can guarantee you will have learned so much about your surroundings and environment, as well as yourself.  It's rewarding.
